The Civil Guard have dismantled one of the most important international networks trafficking in hashish, seizing 1.9 tons of hashish and arresting15 people, including the alleged ringleader, Abdellaziz ZM.
The gang are reported to have operated chiefly from Malaga but with their network also spreading to Ceuta and Barcelona.

The Municipal Department of Youth Hostels of the Mijas Town Hall has closed the Entrerríos Municipal Shelter at the end of the 2010 summer season.
Opened at the beginning of June, a total of 520 children between the ages of 4 and 16 years have attended the six summer courses. The final course, which concentrated specifically on butterflies, ended last week.

In Andalusia there are still many large rural areas, which has certainly contributed to the survival of various craft skills that are not found elsewhere. Attracted by the climate, job opportunities and the peace and tranquility, foreign residents now represent 16.8% of the total population of Malaga.

Andalucia saw an increase in the number of tourists during July compared to the previous year with 930,876 visitors, up 2.4%. Regionally, Cataluña and the Baleares saw the most international visitors in July at 1.8 million, up 12.4% on last year, while Valencia saw a 0.5% improvement.

So far this year Granada city has hosted a total of 210 film production companies from all around the world where crews from Spain, Algeria, Germany, Japan, UK, France, Australia, Canada and the United States have been shooting anything from full length feature films to television programmes, drama's, documentaries and video clips.

A man and a young boy were killed on Monday after the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a horse in the town of Coin. Both are understood to have been wearing crash helmets.
The 41 year old man and the boy aged 13, who was thought to be his son, hit the horse which had escaped from its field.
The horse was loose on the road when it was struck by the motorcycle throwing the two passengers to the ground. A passerby who witnessed the accident was first on the scene and called the Management [...]

A British man has been arrested for growing cannabis plants.
337 cannabis plants weighing 1,160g were found in his home in Coín, Málaga, grown by an advanced drip watering system. The 23-year old is accused of crimes against public health and is due to appear in court.
The arrest is part of a new initiative by police to clamp down on small distributors of the drug.
